Diffusant and Antifusant

Diffusant and Antifusant

Materials: Diffusant and Antifusant

Diffusant, when added to paint makes it bleed and run more smoothly on the silk, thus enhancing the rock – salt effect. Each silk paint brand has a pre-mixed diffusant in its range; or lyogen can be bought separately from craft suppliers and substituted. Lyogen usually needs to be diluted with water, at least 50:50.

Antifusant is most commonly 10 percent gutta mixed with white spirit or Shellite. When painted all over your silk and allowed to dry, any paint you then put on top of it will not bleed so far: it becomes like painting on paper.
