Simple Blending
To get two colours to blend, paint the second one next to the first
before the first has begun to dry. The drier the first colour the harder
it is to blend, and the more likely it is that you will get a hard edge
forming.
Gently rub the brush over the area where the two colours meet, for
a smooth transition.
If you need to, add more paint, of either of the two colours, to
smooth out the blended area. Do not use water, as this will make it
streaky
If you are getting too much paint on the area and it is still not
blended to your satisfaction, clean your paintbrush in the water jar,
and squeeze out excess water. Use this dry brush to continue blending.
To avoid splattering make sure that you do not have too much paint on
your brush. Paint with the tip of your brush rather than the side, and
do not press too hard. Be careful when lifting your brush off the silk.
Unlike other paints you may be used to, such as acrylics, oils and
gouache, silk paints are very watery, and it takes very little pressure
for the paint to transfer to the silk.
